Heimstaden has appointed Amit Kumar as Head of UK Operations.
Amit has spent the past 14 years managing operations for housing and hospitality businesses in the UK.
He joins Heimstaden from Savills, where he was the General Manager of the 603-unit Allegro Living apartment complex, Birmingham’s largest.
“Amit is a great addition to our expanding team in the UK. His hands-on experience and customer-centric background in hospitality will be essential as we introduce to the British rental market our distinctive and differentiated approach to operating properties,” said Heimstaden’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Helge Krogsbøl.
Heimstaden is Europe’s second largest residential real estate company and provides Friendly Homes to more than 300,000 customers in 10 countries. Once it reaches sufficient scale in a given market, Heimstaden manages all the services in-house – from leasing to building maintenance.
Heimstaden made its first investment in the UK in 2021, through the forward purchase of 752 homes under development in Birmingham and the subsequent acquisition of 60 more in Greater London. In April this year, it forward purchased another residential project, which will deliver 464 homes in Edinburgh in mid-2024.
“Joining Heimstaden at the beginning of its expansion into the UK is an exciting opportunity. Our Nordic values, long-term approach, and inhouse management will offer something new to the market, and I am looking forward to setting up a scalable management platform ready to start operating next year in my home city of Birmingham,” said Amit Kumar.
