Nuveen has appointed Chad W. Phillips as Global Head of Nuveen Real Estate, effective immediately.
The leadership transition follows the retirement decision of Chris McGibbon, who has served the firm for nearly 25 years.
In his new role, Phillips will oversee Nuveen Real Estate’s extensive portfolio, which includes $141 billion in commercial real estate equity and debt investments across 22 countries. He will also chair the Nuveen Real Estate Global Executive Leadership Team, steering the platform’s strategic initiatives.
With nearly 25 years of experience in real estate investing and portfolio management, Phillips joined Nuveen in 2019. Most recently, he led a global team focused on workplace, healthcare, retail, and mixed-use investments, managing strategy, performance, and investment activities. Phillips holds a B.A. from Davidson College and a master’s degree in real estate from Georgetown University.

McGibbon will remain with the firm until June 30, 2025, to facilitate a smooth transition. Nuveen Real Estate, with over 90 years of investing experience, employs more than 750 professionals across 30 cities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia-Pacific.
