Australian property group Mirvac has announced measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection within its workforce and wider community.
Mirvac said in a statement, as of Monday 16 March, employees have been asked to work remotely wherever possible, all international air travel has been suspended and all interstate travel is also suspended unless business critical and approved.
“We believe it is vitally important that we take swift and immediate action to reduce the number of people in close contact with others, for sustained periods of time, in order to slow the rate of COVID-19 infection,” said Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz, Mirvac’s CEO & Managing Director.
“The decision to instruct our employees to work remotely where possible was not taken lightly, but has been taken from an abundance of caution following the Federal Government’s announcement today, and the decision on Friday by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) to cancel any organised gathering over 500 people,” added Susan Lloyd-Hurwitz.

“Right now, we have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at Mirvac offices, and our sites remain safe places to work and visit. However, time is of the essence in the fight against the spread of COVID-19. We believe limiting the number of people in any given location both protects our people and best serves the broader community, in the face of this serious health threat.”
“We are certainly not alone in implementing these measures, and I urge other businesses, who are able to, to join us and take similar steps in order to help slow the rate of infections across Australia,” she added.
Mirvac construction sites, retail shopping centres, industrial sites, office assets and residential sales and settlement sites will remain open, unless and until they are deemed unsafe.
