Google has unveiled plans to invest $1 billion in a cutting-edge data centre in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, spanning 33 acres.

The project is expected to create jobs for the Waltham Cross community, particularly in the construction and engineering sectors.

According to Google, the investment will bring critical compute capacity to businesses across the UK, supporting AI innovation and helping to ensure reliable digital services for Google Cloud customers and Google users in the UK and abroad.

Google’s announcement adds another chapter to its ongoing commitment to the country, which it deems a key player in its global business strategy.

This commitment is underscored by a series of notable investments, including the $1 billion acquisition of the Central Saint Giles office in 2022, the massive 1 million sq ft. development in King’s Cross, and the establishment of the Accessibility Discovery Centre.
