Also known as “mortgages” or “whole loan mortgages,” but also can refer to participating mortgages, loan participations and loan syndications. Typically refers to commercial loans, but also can refer to direct lending to single family homeowners. Also can refer to privately syndicated mortgage or other real estate-backed debt securities issued by either private or public real estate operating companies.
