LEED is a third-party certificate program under the U.S. Green Building
Council (USGBC). It is a nationally accepted benchmark for the design,
construction and operation of high-performance sustainable buildings.
Certificate levels are as follows: Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum. The levels
are based on points obtained in six areas: sustainable sites, water efficiency,
energy and atmosphere, material and resources, indoor environmental
quality, and innovation in design.
